China’s Yutong Delivers 500 Certified Pre-Owned Diesel Buses to Latin American Market in Record Trade Deal

Zhengzhou, China – June 10, 2024 – Yutong Bus, a leading Chinese manufacturer of commercial vehicles, has finalized a landmark export agreement to supply 500 certified pre-owned diesel buses to major public transit operators across Colombia, Chile, and Peru. The deal, confirmed this week by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), marks one of the largest single shipments of refurbished diesel buses from China to Latin America.

All units included in the shipment are certified pre-owned diesel buses that have undergone rigorous inspection, maintenance, and reconditioning at Yutong’s Zhengzhou facility. Each bus meets strict international emission standards and carries a comprehensive certification report verifying engine performance, safety systems, and structural integrity. The vehicles are equipped with Euro V-compliant engines and have been upgraded with enhanced braking systems and GPS tracking for improved fleet management.

The demand for certified pre-owned diesel buses has surged in emerging markets due to their lower upfront costs and proven durability in diverse operating conditions. Latin American cities, in particular, are turning to these vehicles to modernize aging fleets amid tight municipal budgets.

According to CCCME data, China exported over 3,200 pre-owned commercial buses in the first quarter of 2024, a 40% year-on-year increase. Over 65% of these units were diesel-powered and shipped to markets in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
