Sales Decline by 45.5%! February 2025 Russia Truck Market Research Report

In February 2025, Russia’s truck market recorded a total sales volume of ​5,684 units, a significant year-on-year decline of ​45.5%. Among these, ​2,380 unitswere domestically produced Russian brands (-9.5% YoY), while ​3,304 units were foreign-branded trucks (-57.6% YoY). For the first two months of 2025, cumulative sales reached ​11,445 units, down ​36.9% YoY, with Russian brands contributing ​4,564 units (-5.3% YoY) and foreign brands ​6,881 units (-48.3% YoY).

Vehicle Type Analysis

  • Specialized Vehicles: Dominated the market with ​2,891 units (February) and ​5,594 units (Jan-Feb), accounting for an absolute majority.
  • Tractors: Sold ​1,099 units in February and ​2,263 units in Jan-Feb, though their market share dropped by ​11.4% YoY (to ​19.3%) in February.
  • Fuel Tanker Trucks: Remained the least popular segment with only ​10 unitssold in February.
  • Growth Highlights:
    • Specialized vehicle share surged ​17.8% YoY in February.
    • Covered vans and refrigerated trucks also saw gains.

Top-selling Models

In February’s top 25 models:

  1. Sinotruk C7H 6X4: Best-selling with ​558 units.
  2. JAC N120: Record year-on-year growth of ​483.3% (70 units sold).
  3. Dongfeng DFH-Series: Worst performer, down ​99.3% YoY (3 units sold).

For Jan-Feb 2025:

  1. Sinotruk C7H 6X4: Cumulative sales of ​1,076 units.
  2. JAC N120: Growth of ​591.7% YoY (166 units).
  3. Dongfeng DFH-Series: Down ​84% YoY (111 units).

The top three models overall were ​Sitrak C7H 6X4, ​Sitrak C7H 4X2, and ​GAZ GAZON NEXT.

Regional Market Share

  • Central Federal District: Maintained the largest share at ​39.9% (Jan-Feb), down ​14.6% YoY.
  • Ural Federal District: Grew ​9.9% YoY.
  • North Caucasus Federal District: Ranked last with ​1.3% share.

Market Trends

  • The downward trend in new truck sales (including specialized and commercial vehicles) continued since November 2024.
  • February 2025: Sales fell ​46% YoY to ​5,684 units (from 10,430 units in 2024).
  • Jan-Feb 2025: Decline moderated to ​37% YoY (11,445 units vs. 18,135 units in 2024).
  • Domestic Brands: Resilient with a ​5% YoY drop in sales, outperforming foreign brands (-48% YoY).
  • KAMAZ led domestic sales with ​1,501 units (26% market share) in February.
